Le Golf de Cornouaille in Brittany: you, the golfers, say it best!
Would you like to discover an exceptional course in Brittany? Set between land and sea, the Golf de Cornouaille boasts a stunning setting, a well-tended course and close proximity to the superb Glénan Islands. Who better to talk about it than a passionate golfer?
Philippe L, a 5-star Golfystador with more than 50 Golfy courses played, gave us a few minutes of his time to answer our questions about his experience of this Breton jewel. Would you like to discover it too? Read his testimonial!
•How did you discover Cornouaille Golf Club?
During a senior competition, Brittany versus Pays de la Loire, three years ago.
• What drew you to this particular golf course?
I saw an advert in the Golfy newsletter for a Coup de Coeur break with the Pointe du Cap Coz hotel. We're from Brittany (Ile et Vilaine) but we didn't know much about this part of Brittany, which we wanted to discover. What attracted us was the sea, of course, and the Glénan islands, close to the golf course.
•How would you describe the environment and landscape of the golf course?
It's a magnificent course with lovely relief and it's very well maintained. We were unlucky because there had been a lot of rain in the region the previous few days and the course was a bit waterlogged, but that didn't stop us enjoying the course, which we also played in the sunshine. The golf restaurant is great!
• What are the features of the course? The most emblematic hole?
I particularly liked the second half of the course with a dogleg hole to the right and then to the left and the 2 holes that run alongside a small stream: magnificent! And you can see the sea from the top of the course.
•Do you plan to come back to Golf de Cornouaille for another round?
We're planning to go back this autumn, when the tourists have had their turn to enjoy the region in July and August.
•Would you recommend this golf course to your friends? Why or why not?
Yes, of course, which I've already done with my friends and we're planning a weekend with a couple of friends. For the quality, the upkeep of the course, its proximity to the sea and Les Glénan, and the top-notch golf restaurant!
•Do you have any tips for a stay at the Cornouaille golf course?
Staying at the Cap Coz hotel is really exceptional: the setting and the restaurant for its cuisine and its large picture windows with sea views. The direct access to the beach is pleasant and also perfect for our dog, who is accepted both on the golf course and at the hotel.
• What tourist activities, things to see or do around the golf course would you recommend?
Go and see Les Glénans (a magnificent archipelago of 7 islets off the coast of Fouesnant: white sand and turquoise sea!)
The Golf de Cornouaille, located opposite the bay of La Forêt-Fouesnant, is a true Breton jewel. This 18-hole course, the oldest in Finistère, offers an exceptional setting between sea and hedged farmland. Its varied layout, dotted with natural obstacles and panoramic ocean views, will test all your playing strategies. Playing here means combining performance and contemplation, with fairways lined with maritime pines and well-defended greens. Its cosy clubhouse offers a breathtaking view of the La Forêt cove.
