Château l’Hospitalet: an exceptional Wine Resort

11th March 2022 511

Since ancient times, L’Hospitalet has been a place of hospitality. A tradition cultivated and embellished to become today a Wine Resort entirely dedicated to the art of living, to the discovery of wines and a terroir. An ode to well-being, a pure return to the essential.

An exceptional Wine Resort where the experience of wine, nature, art and gourmet pleasures is at the heart of a rare stay. Between the rows of vines and the shady park, Château L’Hospitalet and Villa Soleilla offer 41 rooms and suites, with a wide range of culinary offerings based on wine and memorable wine tourism experiences.

On this 1,000 hectare estate, luxury is also about space and nature.

The Hotel

In the heart of a pampered nature, the domain offers a view towards an infinite sky and sea.

At the Château, the hotel has 30 rooms and suites spread over the three two-storey buildings, with views of the park or vineyards. The decoration is slightly more colourful and dynamic, with naturalness as the main theme.

Some suites have their own private garden, facing the park, including one with a jacuzzi. Others are duplexes, some can be made private for two and those in the red ochre building, very Tuscan, overlook the sublime olive tree avenue.

On the heights of Château l’Hospitalet, the Villa Soleilla dominates, giving a glimpse of the sea beyond the waves of vines.

With its 11 suites, swimming pool and spa, Villa Soleilla is the ultimate resort residence. A must. Here you can recharge your batteries, relax and enjoy nature. Outside and inside. From 40m2 to 96m2, all equipped with king size and double sinks in the bathrooms, the suites have taken on the landscape: a refined, elegant and refined decoration.

The Restaurants

Supervising all the Resort’s kitchens, Laurent Chabert arrived at the Château l’Hospitalet restaurant in 2013: his first position as chef, after an apprenticeship in several establishments in the Auvergne, Corsica and Savoie, giving him the time to perfect his techniques, rigour and precision and to assert his passion.

In love with the wide open spaces of his childhood in Auvergne, this son of cattle breeders was immediately seduced by the setting, the garrigue, the vines, the rocks… the Mediterranean. And just as the owner puts nature into his wines, the chef decided from the outset to place it at the heart of his cuisine.

L’Art de Vivre, A gastronomic restaurant in the heart of a natural site

article-blog-golfy-hospitalet-6-1024x1024 Château l'Hospitalet: an exceptional Wine Resort

Located near Narbonne, on the Occitan coast, in the magnificent setting of Château l’Hospitalet, in the middle of protected vineyards and garrigues, in the heart of the natural site of the Massif de la Clape, the gastronomic restaurant l’Art de Vivre enjoys an exceptional environment. Nestled in the middle of Gérard Bertrand’s wine estate, the great wines and appellations have a special place here.

A true showcase of the Mediterranean art of living while incorporating a touch of modernity, the dishes are refined, colourful and fragrant, the cooking perfect and the presentation harmonious. The restaurant gives pride of place to organic and local produce, while respecting the seasonality of the products. This delicate and light cuisine is always prepared in harmony with the great wines of Domaines Gérard Bertrand.

Dinner-concert every Friday evening, a jazzy and convivial experience

With “Les vendredis du jazz”, the restaurant l’Art de Vivre welcomes you every week for a gourmet and jazzy evening during a dinner-concert.

The Art de Vivre restaurant is currently being renovated and will welcome you at the beginning of May.

Chez Paule, A taste for authenticity and old-fashioned charm

article-blog-golfy-hospitalet-7-683x1024 Château l'Hospitalet: an exceptional Wine Resort

Interpreted to the taste of the day by Chef Laurent Chabert, Paule’s recipes smell of the traditions of the whole region and are cooked in the restaurant’s large fireplace, over a wood fire or in casseroles. The menu follows the seasons and the suggestion of the day is decided each morning according to the market. The wine list guides the guests to discover the great terroirs and appellations of Languedoc Roussillon. The decoration of wood, stone and antique objects invites you to savour our traditions as well as the benefits of the present time.

Hospitalet Beach, A few minutes drive from the Resort

The beach offers 100 single deckchairs; 4 double deckchairs and 4 four-poster beds, a large cocktail bar and a restaurant, open for lunch and dinner in summer (May to September).

Even if conviviality, fun activities (paddle, 20 €/h), Yoga (40 €/pers./h), festive evenings, are on the menu of the Hospitalet Beach, the table holds its rank, faithful to the commitment of the Chef on quality products.

Planchas to share, vegetarian, oysters from the Thau basin, vegetable maki, fish tartars, beef carpaccio, fresh salads, Poke bowl… For the classics. The Chef also favours market cuisine, according to the day’s arrivals, for some high-flying dishes. On the sea side: lobster, half-cooked tuna, sea bass, sea bream. Meat: veal chop from the Pyrenees, lamb chop with sage, Aubrac beef or grilled pork chop.

This former island, connected to the mainland in the 14th century following the accumulation of alluvial deposits dumped by the Aude, benefits from an extraordinary topography, geology and environment.

Thanks to its great ecological and heritage value, the Massif de la Clape is a protected site. Indeed, the massif is listed as a Sensitive Natural Area and is part of the Natura 2000 network, a label that protects a unique site with exceptional flora and fauna.

An ideal place to get closer to nature, the Hospitalet estate, with its exceptional setting and Mediterranean climate, is one of the most beautiful vineyards in the Pays d’oc.

Sports activities

Scattered around the Château are a swimming pool, a fully equipped gym, a tennis court, a golf putting green, a driving range with net, table tennis and three marked walking routes on the estate, all of which are accessible to Resort guests.

The Jazz Festival

At the Château l’Hospitalet, music takes over the place on more than one occasion. Every summer since 2004, Gérard Bertrand has organised the Festival Jazz at l’Hospitalet. For 5 to 6 nights, the castle is transformed and vibrates to the rhythm of the greatest names in music. The courtyard of the castle becomes a stage, the façade is illuminated. The greatest artists take over the place for memorable and unheard-of concerts, in a friendly atmosphere. Chef Laurent Chabert sets up his summer kitchen in the park for dinners with food and wine pairings with the Grands Vins of the Gérard Bertrand estates.
